Your activities
Just because you’re getting older, doesn’t mean you necessarily feel old. Many of our residents still have tonnes of energy and love to get involved in our activities, so we offer something for everyone.
A programme tailored to you
Whether you like to participate in group activities, chat with friends or sit quietly on your own, staff at our dementia care home recognise it is really important to keep your mind stimulated and your body moving. That’s why our team organise a wide range of activities and programmes which you are always free to join in with or sit out of – it’s entirely your choice.
We have a well thought out and extensive programme of activities which are tailored to each individual’s needs and interests. Whether it’s discussion groups, arts and crafts, cooking, taking part in a competitive game of bingo or having a good sing-along around the piano, there is always something different to do. Our experienced staff are on hand to help you get the most out of your chosen activity and will usually join in the fun with you.
Helping you live life to the fullest
At our care home in Barnet, we believe in any excuse for our residents to enjoy themselves, so we celebrate themed events throughout the year. Highlights include our annual garden party, Halloween, Christmas and other religious festivals observed by our residents. Birthdays are also an opportunity to make our residents feel extra special and, wherever we can, we involve family, friends, and staff in these special days.
We have a variety of visitors who come in to entertain our residents. These include singers, musicians, chair aerobics and ‘movement to music’ instructors, religious leaders, pet therapists and local school children. For the many residents who enjoy an occasional day out, we also organise trips to the theatre, local religious centres and even to the pub!
Friendships and quiet time
If you are the kind of person who prefers to just sit back and relax, whether in our print library or your favourite quiet corner or nook, we have plenty of areas for you to do just that. Sit back with a nice cup of tea, read a book or crochet a jumper – sometimes it’s just nice to watch from the side lines.
Perhaps you’d like to enjoy a quiet game of cards, chess or draughts in one of our lounges or the terrace. You are sure to make friends whilst you are with us: companionships and friendships blossom all the time. Our residents may come to us at different stages in their lives, but they all share a common desire for connection and friendship. It’s wonderful to see these bonds forming every day, usually whilst chatting over meals in the dining room or relaxing in the lounges. This sense of community is one of the things that makes Baxendale such a special place to live.
We have lots of fun at Baxendale. I enjoy the bingo and quizzes the most.
